What Are Red Light and Infrared Therapy?

Red light therapy directs low levels of visible red light at the skin, usually from a panel of LED lights. Infrared light sits just beyond red on the light spectrum: you cannot see it, but you can feel it as gentle warmth. Neither one uses ultraviolet light, and neither one tans the skin.

Our full spectrum sauna uses infrared heat as well. Many people find the warmth of a sauna session relaxing, and it may help ease muscle stiffness. The same sauna is listed with our other recovery options under Hydrotherapy, Sauna & Recovery Therapies.

Red light, infrared and sauna sessions are offered for comfort, relaxation and recovery. They are not a treatment for any disease or injury, and they do not replace care from your medical physician. People respond differently, and Dr. Casey will be straightforward with you about what to expect.

How Red Light and Infrared Therapy Fit Your Care

Start With Your Health History

Light and heat are not right for everyone. Before your first session, tell Dr. Casey about your health history and any medications, and check with your medical physician if you have concerns.

Alongside Your Care

Red light, infrared and sauna sessions are offered in the same office as chiropractic care and physiotherapy, so they can sit alongside the rest of your care.

Ongoing Support

Ask us what to expect from a session, how to prepare and how to take care of yourself afterward. As your needs change, talk with Dr. Casey about which options, if any, still fit your goals.
